Autism Society of NC

About

The Autism Society of North Carolina works to improve the lives of people with autism, support their families, and help the communities around them understand autism better. Its office is on Kingdom Way in Raleigh, and staff connect families across the state with services close to where they live.

Much of what the group does is practical: direct services for individuals, guidance for parents trying to sort out a diagnosis or get school support in place, and plain-language updates on state legislation that affects families. It also keeps a public calendar of trainings and events.

What to know

  • About 65,000 individuals and their families receive direct services from the group each year in North Carolina.
  • The organization says 88 cents of every dollar given goes directly to services.
  • More than 50 free recorded trainings are on the website for people to watch from home.
  • Zebulun Brown received the 2026 Roman Direct Service Award.
  • Three Bearhollow residents traveled with staff by Amtrak from Greensboro to Raleigh for a restaurant lunch.
