Alter EGO is a hair salon with two locations in downtown Raleigh, one of them on East Hargett Street. Color work is the specialty, including blonding, along with haircuts, keratin treatments, and other treatments for hair that needs repair.
It is family owned and was started by a mother and two daughters. The salon came through the 2008 recession and the pandemic without changing what it asks of itself, and it puts real money into training the people who work there. Education is treated as part of the job.
