The Cary Theater
About
The Cary Theater is an art house theater on East Chatham Street downtown, showing independent films and classic cinema. Live music and comedy take the same stage, so the calendar has a good deal more on it than movies alone.
Locally produced film festivals are part of the year here, including BEYOND: The Cary Film Festival. A small downtown theater is exactly the kind of room a local festival can use, and it is where a film that never reaches a multiplex gets its Cary showing.
What to know
- The theater has 175 seats, which makes for a small room.
- Mornings with the Arts screens films centered on well-known artists.
- Zombiepalooza is a night of zombie short films, games, and a kids costume contest.
- The BEYOND festival names award recipients each year.
