Market 317
About
Market 317 is a grab-and-go market inside the Academy Pavilion at Downtown Cary Park, on South Academy Street. It is there for people who are already at the park and want a drink or something to eat without leaving.
What is on the shelves changes, so it is worth a look even if you stopped in last week. The park around it is the bigger draw: seven acres of downtown Cary that took more than twenty years to get from the first plan to opening day.
What to know
- The park began with a Town Center Area Plan that Town Council approved in 2001.
- Council adopted the Downtown Park Master Plan in 2013, and design of Frantz Square started then.
- The first phase, covering Frantz Square and Academy Street improvements, was finished in 2017.
- Construction started in 2021, after a bond vote passed in 2019.
- Part of the land was once owned by Ben Savage, who lived in Cary until his death in 1928.
