The Little German Band and Dancers play music and dances from Bavaria, and they have been performing across the southeastern United States since 1971. There is no storefront to visit; the group works from a home base in the Raleigh-Durham area and books performances.
What they are after is Gemutlichkeit, the German word for the coziness and sense of belonging people feel among friends. Dr. James Hamm formed the band in 1971, and it has been going ever since. The music matters, but the feeling is the point.
