Best Chinese food in Wake Forest: seven takeout kitchens
Chinese food in Wake Forest is a takeout business. Only four Chinese kitchens could be verified inside town limits, and all four cook American-Chinese menus built for pickup: Hong Kong Restaurant and Rainbow King on Capital Boulevard, #1 China Wok in Gateway Commons and Panda King Chinese Restaurant on Rogers Road. No Sichuan, Cantonese banquet or dim sum specialist turned up in town or within about 15 minutes of it.
So the list widens to Rolesville and the Falls of Neuse corridor in north Raleigh, and it stops at seven. Use it as a takeout map. Each entry has menu prices where they are published, the day the kitchen closes and a call-ahead note when the sign that it is open is thin.
Our read: for anything past the takeout standards, start with the Thai section at Rainbow King or the handmade dumplings at China Fu.
How we chose
We looked inside Wake Forest first, and only four kitchens there could be verified. Taste of China and China Fu are in north Raleigh off Falls of Neuse Road, and Rainbow Garden is in Rolesville; they made the list because nothing closer checked out. Each pick needed a sign it was open as of October 2026, and facts came from the restaurants' own sites first, with menu pages filling gaps in prices.
Chains, buffets and Japanese spots were left off. So were Jumbo China on Falls of Neuse Road, whose address could not be confirmed, and Rainbow Garden in Youngsville, whose open signal was too weak. Entries are listed alphabetically, not ranked. Hours and prices were last checked in October 2026; call for anything an entry marks as unconfirmed.
#1 China Wok
Family-owned and family-run by its own account, #1 China Wok cooks American-Chinese takeout in the Gateway Commons center off Capital Boulevard. The menu runs past 100 items, from Chicken Fried Rice ($7.59 small, $10.59 large) up to the Happy Family at $18.99. No other kitchen on this list has anything like its "Slim, Trim & Healthy" section of steamed dishes; Steamed Chicken with Broccoli is $15.99, with brown or garlic sauce on request.
Why we chose them
- Its About page shows a "15+ Years Serving" stat and also says "nearly two decades," so no opening year is confirmed.
- Happy Family packs jumbo shrimp, scallop, crabmeat, chicken, roast pork and beef into one brown-sauce dish.
- Mongolian Beef is $17.99 and General Tso's Chicken is $14.99 on the current site menu.
- It is closed on Sunday, and orders go in by phone.
Address: Wake Forest — 942 Gateway Common Circle

China Fu
China Fu is in north Raleigh, in a Falls River Avenue suite just off Falls of Neuse Road. Its website says it brings traditional Chinese cooking "with handmade dumplings," the only handmade-dumpling claim found within this list's radius. Past the dumplings, the site names hot and sour soup, wonton soup, chow mein and teriyaki chicken, so the rest of the menu leans toward familiar takeout.
Why we chose them
- It is open until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, per its own site.
- Sunday hours start at 4 p.m., but Birdeye swaps the Sunday and Monday hours, so confirm before a Sunday lunch run.
- A Google review from September 2026 shows it was open this fall.
- Pickup is available, according to the restaurant's own site.
Address: Raleigh — 1121 Falls River Ave., Suite 103

Hong Kong Restaurant
A pickup-only counter on Capital Boulevard, Hong Kong Restaurant keeps its pitch short: the tagline on its site reads "Best food, Great value." The menu is the classic American-Chinese takeout run of soups, egg rolls, mei fun and chow fun. A third-party menu lists a Shrimp Egg Roll at $1.65, Vegetable Mei Fun at $8.55 and Chicken Chow Fun at $9.95.
Why we chose them
- Its own site says pickup only, and no delivery option is mentioned anywhere on it.
- Hot and Sour Soup is listed at $2.35 a pint or $3.95 a quart.
- Those prices come from a SinglePlatform menu that may be older than the site, so confirm them when ordering.
- It is closed on Monday and, per its own site, closes at 8 p.m. the rest of the week.
- Some menu sites show late-night hours; go by the restaurant's own site instead.
Address: Wake Forest — 12287 Capital Blvd.

Panda King Chinese Restaurant
Out on Rogers Road, Panda King is the only Chinese kitchen on that side of town. Its website says the menu runs from classic favorites to more adventurous dishes, and a third-party menu lists Hunan Beef at $9.55 and Tofu Szechuan Style at $7.75. It is a takeout kitchen first, and an Egg Roll is $1.40 on that same menu, a price that may have moved since it was posted.
Why we chose them
- Its own site gives no street address or phone; both come from a menu aggregator, so call before driving over.
- The website is live with hours but carries no date, so no dated 2026 post from the restaurant itself turned up.
- Pickup and delivery orders go through Beyond Menu, according to its own site.
- Roast Pork with Mixed Vegetables is listed at $5.15 small and $8.75 large, prices that may be dated.
Address: Wake Forest — 3626 Rogers Rd.

Rainbow Garden
The only Chinese kitchen in Rolesville that turned up, Rainbow Garden is a takeout spot on South Main Street. Its menu goes past the usual counter list, with a Pu Pu Platter for two at $16.95 and Dragon and Phoenix at $21.00. It has no website of its own; its address and phone come from its online ordering storefront and Restaurantji.
Why we chose them
- Fried or steamed dumplings come eight to an order for $8.95.
- Prices come from ordering and delivery apps, which may run higher than at the counter.
- Restaurantji lists Monday as its closed day, and no source from the restaurant confirms that, so call first.
- No dated 2026 post from the restaurant itself turned up, so call before driving over.
- It has no stated link to the Rainbow Garden on US 1 in Youngsville, which has a different phone and storefront.
Address: Rolesville — 407 S. Main St.

Rainbow King
On Capital Boulevard, a few doors from Don Julio Mexican Restaurant, Rainbow King runs a Thai menu beside its Chinese one, which no other Wake Forest kitchen here does. Pad Thai is $13.95 with vegetable, chicken or shrimp, and the Thai Red Curry and Thai Basil are $14.35 each. The Chinese side covers the takeout standards, with House Special Lo Mein at $9.95 a pint or $13.35 a quart.
Why we chose them
- Lunch specials are mostly $7.95, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- It is closed on Tuesday and opens at 11 a.m. the other six days.
- Online ordering on its own site is set up for pickup, and the site posts a delivery area.
- Chef's Specials run from $14.35 to $17.95 on the restaurant's ordering page.
Address: Wake Forest — 12520 Capital Blvd. #301

Taste of China
In north Raleigh on Falls of Neuse Road, Taste of China cooks with "fresh ingredients and time-tested recipes," according to its website. Its online ordering storefront uses a Wake Forest mailing address, but the restaurant is in Raleigh. The site names Beef Ho Fun and Sweet & Sour Chicken as signatures, and the ordering menu has Fried Crab Rangoon at $9.65 for six.
Why we chose them
- Sesame Chicken and General Tso's Chicken are both $13.75 on its online ordering menu.
- It is the only pick whose website mentions a dining room, and that line comes from a customer quote, so call about seating.
- A different Taste of China on Rock Quarry Road uses tasteofchinaraleigh.com; this one's site ends in 177.
- It is closed on Monday, and no dated 2026 post from the restaurant itself turned up, so call before driving over.
Address: Raleigh — 14460 Falls of Neuse Rd. #177
